LANDeSCAPES

This photography series presents landscape and detail images from several travels. The photographers visual eye is at its’ most sharpest in an unknown environment. During my whole adult life I have been rather restless and unable to stay in one place for a longer time. This is the motive for my travels in Europe. My travels are a way of exiling myself when staying in Finland has become agonizing. It is possible to recognize a common feeling in the images, which could be interpreted as a type of melancholy. When taking an image I have felt the difference between myself and the place, I have admired it and yet known that they are emotionally foreign. Similar emotion was the reason for the departures: a contradictory experience of how the familiar surroundings and people become foreign, when they come too near. The departure isn’t always a choice, sometimes it is a must to leave.

The photos have been taken in Europe: Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Finland.

Valokuvasarja esittää useilta matkoiltani kuvaamiani maisema- ja yksityiskohtakuvia. Valokuvaajan visuaalinen silmä on herkimmillään vieraassa ympäristössä.

Kuvat on kuvattu Euroopassa mm. Norjassa, Virossa, Latviassa, Puolassa, Saksassa, Italiassa, Espanjassa, Portugalissa ja Suomessa.
